Botox

Some of the earliest signs of aging that people experience are the appearance of deep lines and creases on the forehead, neck and around the eyes. Botox injections dramatically improve and can even slow the development of vertical frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet.

What is Botox Cosmetic & How does it work?

Botox is a cosmetic prescription medicine containing Botulinum toxin, which is used to improve the look of moderate to severe lines of the forehead, around the eyes and between the eyebrows. It works by targeting the underlying cause of crow’s feet and frown lines, muscles contractions from squinting and frowning. When it is injected into an area, it temporarily reduces muscle activity allowing the skin to lay smoothly and keeping the problem from getting worse. You’ll see results with 24 to 48 hours and the treatment lasts around four weeks.

What causes frown lines?

Frown lines result from muscle contraction. When you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscle contracts which cause your skin to furrow and fold.

How quickly will I see a difference?

You may notice a softening within 72 hours. The area may continue to improve for up to a month. Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months.

Are there any side effects?

Localized pain, injection, swelling, tenderness redness, and/or bleeding/bruising have been associated with the injections. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.

Dysport

There’s more than one way to treat crow’s feet, a furrowed brow, frown lines, and neck bands. For many years, the only options were topical creams or Botox. Dysport provides an alternative treatment to Botox for people who desire to achieve a more youthful appearance.Dysport contains the same purified Botulinum toxins as Botox and works in the same way, by blocking muscular nerve signals so the muscles that cause crow’s feet and frown lines can’t contract. The result is a dramatic reduction in unwanted furrows, frown lines, neck bands, and crow’s feet. Dysport has a slightly different formula than Botox. It is more diluted and diffuses more than Botox, making it especially useful in large forehead areas and in areas where muscles are thin such as the outside corner of the eyes.

What is Dysport & How does it work?

Dysport (abobotulinumtoxin A) was approved by the FDA in April, 2009. It has been used in other countries since 1991. It is a prescription injection used to improve moderate to severe frown lines. Dysport stops the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines.

Juvederm

Fillers are an excellent alternative to plastic surgery for anyone who wants to achieve a more youthful look with little recovery time and minimal pain. There are several different varieties available all of which deliver lasting results. One of the most popular facial fillers is Juvederm, which can lift and contour cheeks, erase deep vertical and nasolabial lines, and plump lips.Juvederm is an injectable gel that comes in a variety of formulations. The active ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which adds volume to lift, smooth and plump the treated are. The result is long lasting, natural looking beauty. Each formulation is designed to target specific issues. Juvederm Voluma XC lifts and contours cheeks for up to two years. Juvederm XC lasts for up to one year and smooths severe facial wrinkles and lines. Juvederm Ultra XC plumps lips for up to one year.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm XC is a filler which helps replace the hyaluronic acid that your skin has lost, adding volume to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds.

What is Juvederm made of?

Juvederm XC is an injectable gel made of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm XC helps replace the HA your skin has lost due to age and sun. A new process called Hyla Cross Technology helps to achieve the first smooth-consistency HA gel.

How long does it last?

Juvederm XC is FDA approved to last up to 1 year with any 1 treatment.

What can I expect with treatment?

Injection with Juvederm is a quick in office procedure with minimal down-time. It is formulated with lidocaine, a common anesthetic to provide a more comfortable experience during and after treatment.

What are common side effects of Juvederm XC?

The most common side effects are temporary—site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less).

Xeomin

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a form of botulinum toxin which varies slightly from other neurotoxins, such as Botox and Dysport. It was approved by the FDA in July 2011. However it has been used in 14 European countries under the brand name Bocouture, since 2005.

How does it work?

When injected into the underlying muscles, Xeomin blocks the release of wrinkle-causing chemicals called acetylcholines. Xeomin decreases the force with which targeted muscles contract when you scowl, sneeze, or otherwise contort your face, thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

How often are treatments necessary?

Approximately every four months.

What are common side effects of Xeomin?

The most common side effects of Xeomin include dry mouth, discomfort or pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, neck pain, muscle weakness, and/or eye problems (blurred vision, drooping eyelids, or dry eyelids.)

Visible Results

Xeomin is a powerful treatment for glabellar lines. Sometimes known as the vertical wrinkles or “ll’s” between the eyebrows. Xeomin injections effectively reduce the appearance of “dynamic” wrinkles-those that become evident when you frown, squint, and laugh.

Restlylane

Skin changes as we age. It loses fat, thins and no longer looks as smooth or plump as it once did. Facial aging begins in early adulthood and progresses as we grow older and are exposed to sun, pollution and the environment. Hyaluronic acid is a key component in tissue repair, but the body’s production of it diminishes as we age, and is reduced more rapidly by overexposure to UV rays.  Replacing it combats aging caused by the reduction in the presence of this.Restylane is an injectable that contains hyaluronc acid. When injected under the skin, it corrects wrinkles and folds, and plumps the skin. There are several Restylane formulae. Each is used to target specific issues. Restylane Lyft adds volume and fullness to cheeks. Smile lines and nasolabial folds are smoothed with a combination of Restylane and Restylane Lyft. Restlylane Silk is designed to treat “lipstick lines” around the mouth and plump lips.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

What is Restylane made of?

Restylane is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA,TM or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How is Restylane different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?

Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane is non-animal-based. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.

What should patients do prior to treatment?

Restylane requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.

Is Restylane safe?

Yes. Restylane has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane is non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. There is virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

Can Restylane be used anywhere on the face?

Restylane has been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips. However, it is currently indicated in the U.S. only for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

How long does Restylane last?

Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or even longer. The unique NASHATMtechnology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.
How often should I have Restylane treatments done?

Restylane lasts twice as long as collagen, so treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

How is Restylane different from Botox?

Restylane is a natural, cosmetic filler. In contrast, Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

How is Restylane different from bovine collagen?

Restylane is proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than traditional collagen, with virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. In addition, bovine collagen is derived from animals (cow) and requires an allergy test. Because Restylane is non-animal-based, it can be administered without pretesting, so no waiting is required.

Do the injections hurt?

Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by a ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during this short procedure, we may use a local anesthetic in the treatment area.

Radiesse

For patients with well-defined facial wrinkles, injectable fillers are an effective solution. As skin ages, it loses its natural support structure leading to creases and wrinkles. Injectables are placed under the skin to add volume for a more youthful look. There are two general types of fillers: hyaluronic acid (a key component to tissue repair, and the active ingredient in Restylane), and calcium hydroxyapatite. Calcium hydroxyapatite fillers have been used in dentistry and reconstructive surgery for years and are safe and effective.Radiesse is a dermal filler that contains calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a mineral-like compound naturally found in human bones. The product is biosynthetically produced, so no animals or animal products are used and there is less risk of an allergic reaction. To treat moderate or severe nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and frown lines, Radiesse is injected into the affected area where it acts as a scaffold for your body’s own collagen. Over time, it dissolves and is absorbed into the body through normal metabolic processes. Though the results are not permanent, they are immediate and, in some cases last up to 3 years.

How Long Will The Radiesse Treatment Last?

Most patients treated with Radiesse should look for a correction that lasts around two years although some patients’ treatment will last three years or longer.

What Areas Of The Face Are Normally Treated?

Typical Radiesse treatments include: smoothing and contouring smile lines or nasolabial folds, wrinkles at the corner of the mouth, vertical lip lines, acne scars, facial defects or recessions, frown lines, restoring volume in and around the cheeks, providing lip definition and modest enhancement or correcting asymmetrical features.

Will The Radiesse Become Hard, Calcified Or Noticeable To Touch?

To the contrary…Radiesse will remain soft and take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue. New soft tissue will gradually replace the Radiesse over time with most replacement occurring within three months. Patients report Radiesse remaining soft and passing the “kiss test”.

Does The Treatment Hurt?

A mild localized anesthetic is normally used to minimize or usually eliminate the pain associated with this type of treatment. The numbing effects will wear off in 15 minutes to as long as a couple of hours depending on the anesthetic used by your physician. There is no pain reported afterwards.

Are There Any Lingering Effects Of The Treatment?

There is minor inflammation or swelling from the treatment as a result of the expansion of facial tissue. This is normally resolved well within 24 hours but has been reported to last as long as 48 hours for some patients. Most patients resume normal activities only a few hours after receiving treatment. Application of ice intermittently for a short period after the treatment will help reduce any swelling.

When Can I Return To My Normal Activities?

Most patients resume normal activities only a few hours after receiving treatment.

Are There Any Restrictions After I Receive The Treatment?

You should avoid activities that will strain your facial features for 48 hours following treatment as much as possible. For example, avoid activities such as strenuous laughing, using a straw, singing, shouting, cheering, chewing gum, eating tough food, etc. Otherwise normal activities are fine.

What Is Radiesse Made Of?

Radiesse consists of tiny micro spheres of a synthetic material called calcium hydroxylapatite (30%) that is combined with a common hydrogel (70%) used in a vast array of products. The result is a white, creamy like substance. While calcium hydroxylapatite has similar chemical and structural characteristics as bone and teeth and therefore is naturally compatible with the body, the Radiesse material is synthetic and man-made similar to a calcium phosphate.

Will I Need A Skin Test?

No. Due to the safe and compatible materials used in Radiesse no pre-testing of any kind is required. There have been no reported reactions from use of the Radiesse product.

How Safe Is Radiesse?

Radiesse has been safely injected in over 30,000 patients worldwide without a report of reaction to the product.

What Are The Complications Of Radiesse?

There have been minor complications reported by some patients receiving large volume lip augmentation where some lumpiness or small nodules have occurred within several days of treatment. Complications of this nature have been normally resolved clinically within 30-60 days with patients reporting satisfaction. Smaller volume lip augmentation is recommended.
