How does the treatment work?
Dermapen creates vertical micro-punctures in the skin sending the bodies response to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of normal woven collagen. The newly created vertical punctures allow 80% more topical nutrients to be delivered to the deeper layers of the epidermis. A topical hylauronic acid/stem cell serum is pushed down through the puncture canals. The needling action allows the dermapen to cut through bands of tissue that are holding skin layers together (stretch marks, cellulite divots, wrinkles, scarring, etc.) forcing the separation to snap and the skin layers to separate and form a new smooth surface.
How should I prepare my skin for a Dermapen Treatment?
For optimal results, an appropriate regime of cleansing should be followed. Avoid anything that may be too abrasive or harsh on your skin for it can prolong the skins healing time from treatment. In combination with a growth factor, which is pushed into the newly created micro-punctures of the skin during treatment, your collagen production is put into effect.
How long should it take before I see results?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Results will continue to improve with following multiple treatments. A series of treatments are needed for optimal results to be reached. Treatments will be spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The condition of the skin will continue to improve over the following 6 to 12 months, especially when combined with recommended post treatment care.
Is the treatment painful?
For minimal needle depths, Dermapen treatments are relatively painless. Treatments using depths over 0.5mm require a topical numbing anesthetic cream to be applied for 15-40 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain-free. Post procedure cool compresses may help any additional discomfort.
Is there any downtime after treatments?
You will experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after your treatment, similar to a bad sunburn. Most people experience tightness and dryness. A gentle cleanser is recommended for the next 7 days. No retinol, scrubs, or exfoliating for 7 to 10 days post treatment. Wearing a sunscreen of SPF 35 or higher is required with no direct sunlight for 2 weeks. Otherwise normal daily skin care routines may be resumed the following day.
